HISTORY AND MILESSTONES

  • KGMC is a 1200 bedded tertiary care multi-specialty hospital with round the clock emergency services located in the southern tip of India where the tri seas meet.
  • The campus in a 100 acre landfall of greeneries which harbors entire medical college and hospital within a compound wall.
  • KGMC offer services at free of cost for economically deprived people of the society.
  • It also provides free services and treatment under Tamilnadu government’s chief minister’s comprehensive health insurance scheme.

DEPT OF NEUROLOGY

  • Neurology was the first super-specialty department to develop in KanyakumariGovt medical college in the year 2008.
  • Growth of Neurology as a discipline in KGMC was fascinating from a limited beginning, the department has grown into a modern multidisciplinary field.
  • Approximately 30000 Out -patients and 1200 in-patients are served annually.
  • We were able to make a big leap by starting afull-fledged electrophysiology lab,sleep lab,and plasmapheresis.
  • The department of neurology is well organized in the fields of management acute stroke care, Headache, epilepsy diagnosis and management, diagnosis and management of movement disorders, Dementia etc
  • The department takes good pride in its comprehensive, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, pathology, biochemistry and microbiology services.

It is our pride to say that neurology department is the first Super specialty department in Kanyakumari Govt Medical College. We came into existence as a department in 2008.

For the past 18 years, department of neurology has been serving people from all walks of life with exceptional healthcare, serving the people not only from the Kanyakumari district but also across the state.
